How To Create A Blissful Environment

How To Create A Blissful Environment

Welcome to Day 2 of my How To Create The Life You Want Mini-course! Today, we are all about our environment! How To Create A Blissful Environment for you to begin transforming your life and lifestyle into the life you want is a huge step in the process. Your environment sets the mood for your everyday life. It can make or break your mental health and can make you feel either bogged down or uplifted.

Let’s get right into it!

What does your dream space look like?

This is my favorite part! You get to dream about your perfect space and put it down into words, images, text; whatever works best for you! I love Pinterest for this activity. I love being able to play around with style ideas and color palettes.

Now, it’s important to know for this exercise that you don’t need to focus on your whole house. You can pick one room, or even just a specific area in a room to make your favorite space. I actually find the easiest and most effective way to create the best environment is to work space-by-space or area-by-area. You can do room-by-room, or even create a general, cohesive vibe throughout your home.

What steps can you take to make the space you have now more like your vision?

I sincerely believe that any space can be made beautiful; it just takes some work and imagination. Sometimes, transformation can be simple. Taking away or adding a piece of furniture, a picture or some flowers is enough to really bring a space to the next level.

Now, it’s time to take inventory of what your space really needs or what you really want, based on your budget and vision.

Purge

Start by going through each area of your space and purge all the things you don’t want or need. We have all heard of the KonMarie Method. I’ve used it and love it, but a YouTuber I stand by when it comes to purging and tidying up a space is April from Space Maker Method. I’ve followed her for years and she’s consistently been a huge help and inspiration for my transformations. She brings you through the whole process as she helps clients, tidying up their different spaces. She’s a wealth of knowledge on the topic and she understands the psychology. She’s a gentle and educational coach. Highly recommend!

Tidy

Next, you want to tidy your space and find a place for everything. Don’t worry about making it perfect. You can take as much or as little time as you need for this part of the exercise.

You can do this in several ways. You could go category-by-category, or you can go area-by-area. It’s really up to you and what works best for you.

Personally, I find it best to start in one place. If you find this part overwhelming or tedious, set a timer.

A good tip to remember, is to look for wasted space. You may find that you have more available storage space than you realize; over doors, under beds or in closets.

A good rule of thumb is to store like items with like items.

Clean

With everything in it’s place, it’s time to give your space a proper scrub down.

Quick Tips

  1. Clean top to bottom
  2. Use products that you love
  3. Let go of perfection
  4. Work in sections
  5. When overwhelmed, take breaks or ask for help

Rearrange

Now that everything is organized and clean, you have the option of rearranging the larger things in your space.

Above is an article all about rearranging. I’ve included it mostly because I couldn’t say it better myself!

Decorate

Start with a list of resources you have. It’s big – decision time. Are you going to paint? Purchase new items of furniture? New bedding?

How to save money redecorating on a tight budget

This is where creativity really comes in!

  1. Make a list of additions
  2. Window shop first
  3. Price match
  4. Layaway or save up
  5. Use what you have when you can
  6. Shop second-hand
  7. Make items
  8. Get creative with arranging
  9. Sometimes, less is more
  10. Find free market place items or groups
  11. Shop clearance or deals

Set The Mood

Last but definitely not least, it’s time to set the mood in your space! You could do this by adding candles, incense, signature scents, or essential oils. You could even a lamp instead of always using the overhead lights. Fairy lights are a huge addition to mood as well!

Maybe your space just needs a cozy blanket and a spritz of your favorite perfume. The possibilities are endless and every addition is up to you and your taste!
