Why Lip Health Is Important

Just like with your nails and face your lips give clues to the state of your overall health and well-being. Additionally, issues with our lip health can be incredibly uncomfortable and sometimes painful.

WATER INTAKE

Replenishing your water has tons of health benefits—including softer, smoother, healthier lips.

Foods that are high in water are a great way to not only hydrate but get some much need vitamins and minerals as well.

  1. Cucumber
  2. Celery
  3. Oranges
  4. Strawberries

Additionally, the antioxidants in these foods will also help with cell regeneration which is a huge superpower for lip care!

So, we went over hydration, good foods and how to care for your lips lets talk about creating a routine!

  1. Cleansing (Warm water and a soft cloth or some micellar water)
  2. Hydration (I’m obsessed with Nuxe’s line of lips products!)
  3. Protection (You NEED an SPF lip balm)
  4. Exfoliation (Homemade sugar or store bought lip scrub used 1-2 times a week)

I’m also a big fan of lip masks! You can add those into your weekly routine.

It’s important to remember that you don’t need to run out and spend a bunch of money either! the only product you want to make sure you have is an SPF of some kind for your lips. Other than that, you can use stuff you already have around your home! Such as olive oil or coconut oil for moisturizing, you can mix sugar and oil for a lip scrub, warm water and a gentle cloth is great for cleansing and if you’re drinking lots of water you’ve already got the inside out approach working for you! Honey is another thing you can add to your lips for hydration and gentle antibacterial care.
