In the past few years I’ve really been focusing on upping my skincare game! For a while I was really struggling with dry skin, an irritated face, broken skin barrier, razor burn, irritated skin and more. The products I’ve highlighted below have not only saved my skin, they’ve improved my confidence, my joy of selfcare and my makeup game!
This was my skin before, I would get these red flair ups.
This is my natural skin now.
I can’t remember the last time I had a breakout or a painful flair up. Let’s talk about it.
It’s important to first say that everyone’s skin is different, this is just mine. I’m not promising that these habits and products are going to change your life and skin indefinitely. This is what has worked for me and I hope you get benefit from it as well. I also want you to remember that sometimes we can do everything right and our skin STILL will not be how we want it. There are so many factors that go into play when it comes to the skin. Please, please do not place all the pressure on yourself. I recommend also finding an influencer who has skin close to yours and getting their tips and advice. The last thing I want is anyone comparing their skin to mine especially when we may have different skin types, problems, genetics etc.
While we are on the topic, let’s go over some skincare factors that are in your control and some that are not.
In your control
- Water intake
- Diet & Exercise
- Skincare Practice
Out of your control
- Genetics
- Underlying Conditions
- Skin Type
- Environmental Factors
- Life Stressors
- Hormones
As you can see, these are just a few examples off the top of my head. So much more goes into the health and look of your skin! Be kind to yourself always and focus on what you CAN control.
Skincare
I know, I sound like a broken record but WATER! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and hydrate again! There is NOTHING that is better for the health of your skin.
This next article is by west lake dermatology. It outlines how water intake effects the skin and can improve it in only ONE month.
Okay, now that we’ve covered water intake, let’s start!

Make sure you are drying specific areas such as ; behind the ears, privates, armpits and feet. This will help avoid any smell etc. as these areas hold onto the moisture.

If you can stand to put your lotion and/or oil on while your skin is still wet that will help to lock in additional hydration.

- Micellar water
- Exfoliating cleanser (I’ve been sleeping on this but really want to try the Clinique All About Clean 2-in-1 Cleanser)

I currently use my micellar water and a homemade lip scrub for cleansing. You can find plenty of exfoliators and other lip cleansing products on the market to try.
